Heat is famous for staring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, but also for some great action sequences, which is always a good place to start with a video game. The game is planned for release on next-gen consoles, and Michael Mann is currently in talks with Gearbox to develop the title.
“There is something about this concept that I call ‘hardcore heist’ that has never really been done well in a video game, yet everyone on the planet has thought about robbing a bank or something at one time or another,” said Gearbox president Randy Pitchford. “Heat pretty much defined what hardcore heist means and it gives us a narrative mechanism to consider both sides.“
Titan says that it is currently in “advanced stages” of discussion with the various agents of the actors from the film, to bring their likenesses and voice talents to the video game. Given than Pacino didn’t lend his voice to the Scarface video game, it would be a bit of a coup to sign him up to Heat.
Gearbox plan to release the Heat video game at some point in 2007.
