The latest Bungie Weekly Update has casually unveiled the rough release date for Halo 3. The developer notes that the “official marketing campaign for the game is just now starting to begin“, kicking off with an impressive looking teaser poster.

While it may not be anything new for fans who have been following Halo 3 all along, it’s still very cool, very iconic and evokes a sense of mystery and intrigue. It teases you if you will,” reads the Weekly Update. “Although, it does contain ONE very important piece of information. Cough.

That “very important piece of information” is the Halo 3 release date which adorns the teaser poster. ““Fall 2007” the poster declares.

The update also takes time to once again make it clear that while Crackdown will give gamers access to the Halo 3 beta, it will not do so until the beta is ready.

There are still many details of the Halo 3 beta to be finalized but one thing we did want to confirm is that the beta will not be starting next week,” says Brian Jarrard, community lead at Bungie. “Crackdown will be available in stores starting Tuesday, 2/20, but the Halo 3 multiplayer beta start date is still being finalized. We’re still aiming for a Spring release, but it could be more like late Spring.

Once the beta is ready gamers will be able to launch it using the Crackdown game disc.
