Throne and Liberty somewhat use the tank, healer and DPS holy trinity to help players identify roles they want to play for PvE and PvP. If players want to, they can run a healer build, which is reliant on the Tome and Wand weapon. This weapon is most dedicated to a healing playstyle compared to other weapons and ranks well for all content in our Throne and Liberty tier list. However, from there, you have a few varieties of how else you want to play the build. Here’s a closer look at everything you need to know about a Tome and Wand healer build in Throne and Liberty, featuring key skills, gearing and weapon combos.

Wand and Tome Healer Build

To get a basic healer build in Throne and Liberty going, you have two options. A more dedicated healer build or a support healer. There’s a key distinction between the two, as it means using a few different skills.

The support healer version relies on two key skills. These are the Touch of Despair and Curse Explosion skills. Touch of Despair applies a DoT to the target, and then applies a debuff called Weaken to them. You then use Curse Explosion to pop those DoTs, which apply a 1000 HP shield to ally per stack of Touch of Despair on the target. It also deals increased damage per poison or burns on the target for some bonus splash damage. You can also deal more splash damage from other curses you applied, such as from Karmic Haze, or Time for Punishment

By nature, this means you ideally want to run a dagger weapon combo to stack poisons or play a Staff for the fire DoT effects. Again, this turns you into a support healer. Any remaining skills you spend on basic heals from the Wand and Tome skill list.

If you want a more dedicated healing build, you have more options: The main skills you’ll use are as follows:

  • Swift Healing – Heals friendly targets by 610% of Base Damage +232. It can be used up to 2 times consecutively, and mana cost increases per cast.
  • Fountain of Life – Special growth used with Precious Training Book: Omnipotence. It creates a 3-meter radius at your cursor’s location for 6 seconds. Party members in the area recover 90% base damage +82 every 0.5 seconds.
  • Clay’s Salvation – Restore 520% base damage plus 469 to all party members in range.
  • Blessed Barrier – Select a friendly target and increase their Magic, melee and ranged defence stats by 2100 for 6 seconds. If you cast during the day, they get a 48% heal increase buff, or an evasion buff to all damage types by 480 at night. The effect is doubled for 22 seconds after the effect is activated.

These are your four main healing spells.  The other spell, slots on your bar go to your preferred weapon combo. Or add some curses for some passive synergy (more on that in the next section.)

Weapon combos

For this build, you have two weapon combo options. The Longbow or the Great Staff.

Longbow is a druid/wayfarer type playstyle. You can use skills like:

  • Nature’s Blessing for party health and mana regen buffs, and it removes a Weaken effect from each member of your party.
  • Purifying Touch can remove a CC effect for the chosen ally.
  • Blitz, which allows you to immediately recast any spell just used, offering an additional burst of healing if you need it.

After that, the other spell slots go to passive damage spells for either your Longbow or Wand and Tome.

The other option is to use the Staff. The Staff offers you a lot of pure support. You can take spells like:

  • Inner Peace to regenerate your mana.
  • High Locus spell to increase cooldown speed by 58% and GCD speed by 68%.
  • If you want strong utility, you can take the Salvation Chain spell, which pulls nearby allies to your position. This can be clutch to allies out of harm’s way in both PvE and PvP when things go wrong.
  • If you want some CC tools, there’s the Icebound Tomb, that can Freeze an enemy in place for six seconds in PvP or 15 in PvE, followed by a Weakned slow effect.

All in all, you have a lot of choices with staff for a dedicated support mage playstyle.

Ideal healer passives

Since we’re offering two different weapon combos for the Wand and Tome healer build, you will want to know the passives worth taking, depending on setup. We’ve listed the types of passives you may want to consider depending on weapon choice and the content you’re doing.

PassiveWeaponDetails
Devotion and EmptinessWand and TomeIncreases Skill Heal by 36% and lower skill cooldown by 10% during the day. Skill damage and curse cooldown lowered at night.
Noble RevivalWand and TomeSkill Heal increased by 3.02% per 1000 max mana.
Selfless SoulWand and TomeIncreases Mana Regen by 23.4 and Skill Heal by 5.1% per stack for 3 s when you cast a buff on an ally. Stacks up to 10 times.
Vampiric ContractWand and TomeRestores health to a friendly target by 17.4% of the damage you deal to a target affected by your Curse. If a friendly target is not within your range, your health is restored instead.
Full of CorruptionWand and TomeWhen a Weakened target dies, Mana Regen increases by 70 and max damage by 40 for 9s. Stacks up to 3 times.

Forbidden SanctuaryStaffMana cost efficiency decreased by 15% and skill damage increased by 140.
Manaball EruptionStaffWhen using a Staff or Wand and Tome to basic attack, you have a 5% chance up to 24% per 1000 mana to trigger an additional projectile that deals 150% base damage and applies Weaken: Burning.
Distorted SanctuaryLongbowMagic, Melee and Ranged Endurance increases by 60. Endurance increased by 25 per each party member (including yourself) within 16 meters.
Devoted ShieldLongbowWhen Weakened, has an 11.5% chance to create a Shield for 3000 health that last for 4 seconds.
Rapidfire StanceLongbowStaying in the same place for 2s will increase attack speed by 20% and hit rating for all weapon types by 100. The effect remains for 2s after you move and remains in effect during mobility skills.

The idea behind the passives we’ve listed is for a few reasons. The Wand and Tome offer increased healing power for the most part, and some mana regen. If you’re running the curse build, some more synergy for curses you may want to debuff enemies with.  From there, the staff offers more mana efficiency, alongside another way to get burning for your curse and burning synergy as mentioned in the off-healer build.

If you’re playing with a bow, you’re getting some defensive and utility passives. The bonus hit rating is handy for your attacks when you don’t need to heal. Moreso, you also get better defences via endurance and that goes to your party. Making it harder to be hit, especially for PvP. It is a very strong passive for support needs. It is also useful for PvE defensiveness too. Furthermore, you get a passive defensive on yourself to make you somewhat more tanky, which is both important for PvE and PvP.

Best weapons and stats

In this section, we’ll give you an idea of the types of weapons you want for various healer builds and playstyles. These are all T1 weapons, which is the minimum end-game content players can take on. You’ll also get an idea of the stats you want to roll on gear, and attributes for your gear and levelling up.

Staff:

  • Talus’ Resonance Staff – Defensive perk that freezes you if you get stunned. Handy for PvP Healing. Also has a chance to role mana and mana regen stats which you want.
  • Queen Bellandir’s Domination Wand – Perk that synergizes with burning for you off healing curse build.
  • Lightbringer Prayer Staff. Early T1 end-game staff that rolls decent mana regen and mana stats. Also has Wisdom on the staff, your main stat.

Wand and Tome

  • Excavator’s Mysterious Scepter – Excavator’s Breath perk awards bonus healing HoT over 6s when you rapidly heal a target below 15% HP on a 30-seconds CD.
  • Lequirious Grip – Perk that allows you to go invisible when you drop below 20% HP for 7.5. 120s cooldown. Handy for PvP survivability.

Longbow

  • Karnix’s Hell Bow – 9% range increase for party members within 18 meters. A good boost to your mage and archer players running the distance damage buffs from bow passive or the range damage buff staff, Toublek’s Thunderous Soul. Also, grant bonus health and a decent strength modifier from gear to make you tankier.

As for stats, you need the following:

  • Mana.
  • Mana regen.
  • Cooldown.
  • Crit hit.
  • Dexterity/skill damage improvements.
  • Perception.
  • General defensive stats / strength.

As for your attributes, you want to try and target around:

  • 15-20 strength for basic defensive needs. You don’t want to be too squishy.
  • Dexterity can be around 40-50, which increases the skill power, affecting your damage and heals.
  • Wisdom can be around 60, as that grants you the most cooldown, mana and mana regen stats.
  • Perception can be around 30-40 as you want to buff your hit chance with your weapons.

With that said, you should now have a better idea of how to play a healer build in Throne and Liberty.
