What is the Overwatch 2 Halloween Event?

Every year, players of Overwatch could come together at Halloween to celebrate the season and to take the fight to Junkenstein. This year, players get to play an updated version called Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride.

In previous years, players could obtain loot boxes and open many of them and earn fun Halloween-themed cosmetics. Though those days have come and gone, since the newest game has gone free-to-play, there are still cosmetics to be earned. However, there is a new way to do so. Now, players must make sure that they complete the Halloween challenges so that they can earn the new cosmetics, sprays, voice lines, and weapon charms.

What skins can players earn during the event?

As far as the free skins players can earn go, there are significantly less skins to get. This year, there are only two skins that players can earn for completely free. These are the Legendary Cursed Captain Reaper Skin, and the Werewolf Legendary Winston Skin. Each one of these looks fantastic, but all of the other skins will need to be purchased for Overwatch Coins.

To earn the Cursed Captain Reaper Skin, players simply need to log into the game before the end of Season One. When they log in, they will immediately receive the free legendary skin, as well as a Health Pack weapon charm. The Winston skin however, is earned from Twitch drops.

How to unlock the free legendary Winston skin in Overwatch 2

Twitch drops are special free pieces of loot that players can get for their favorite games, simply by watching related Twitch streams. For Overwatch 2’s newest Halloween event, players are able to earn a Werewolf-themed spray for watching Twitch streams for 2 hours. To earn the special legendary Winston skin, players must continue watching for 4 more hours after earning the spray.

In order to claim these items, players must make sure that their Twitch accounts are linked to their Overwatch 2 accounts. Once they have been linked, and the player watches streams for the correct amount of time to earn the reward, they will automatically receive them in their account. The Twitch Halloween Overwatch 2 event will run until November 8, 2022 at 11 AM PST.

Other new skins added in Overwatch 2’s Halloween Terror event

With the addition of new heroes to the roster for Overwatch 2, there have been a few new skins added to the wardrobe as well. For Kiriko, players can unlock the new Witch Kiriko skin, which is available for 1900 Overwatch Coins (about $19.00). This skin also comes in a bundle that players can choose to purchase if they are so inclined to get other Witch themed items for Kiriko, including a black cat themed weapon charm.

For Junker Queen, the newest tank to grace Overwatch 2, players can purchase a special legendary Executioner skin for her. This skin greatly fits her character, and looks great. Players are able to pick up this skin for the price of 1900 Overwatch Coins as well ($19.00).

In addition to the new skins that have been added to the store, there are skins for many other Overwatch heroes. In order to see them, players can browse the skin option located under the Heroes tab on the main menu. From that menu, players can also purchase any of the available skins they wish to purchase from the Halloween event, even if they are not showing up directly in the store.

Each of these legendary skins will set the player back 1900 Overwatch Coins as well.

Players can check out the Halloween event for a limited time

For those who want to experience all of the spooky fun in Overwatch 2’s newest Halloween event, they only have a limited time to do so. Players can access the event for free from now until 11 AM PST on November 8, 2022. Until then, players are able to experience the fun of the new PvE mode in the Arcade option – and earn some fun skins to set the mood for the season of scares this Halloween.
