Wondering how to unlock the Johnny cut scene in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater? Everyone’s favourite gullible goon Johnny Sasaki with IBS is back in MGS Delta and if you play your cards right you can unlock a secret cut scene. It’s technically Johnny’s grandfather we’re dealing with here, but he shares many of the same characteristics as his lineage in other Metal Gear games.
As is customary in MGS games, getting the cut scene takes some doing, involves chucking food, and is easily missed. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to unlock the Johnny cut scene in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater.
How to get the Johnny cut scene in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater
To get the Johnny cut scene, you’ll need to progress the story until you reach Groznyj Grad and Snake is tortured by Volgin. Once you gain control of Snake in the prison cell, you’ll see Johnny patrolling outside the cell. After a while he’ll throw food into the cell. Pick it up, equip it in your backpack, then throw it back at him by using R2 to aim through the gap in the cell door. It won’t work if you don’t manage to get it outside of the cell. You’ll know you’ve done it right when Johnny says “What? You don’t want this?” He may also rush to the toilet after eating some of the food.
Wait for Johnny to drop food two more times and repeat the process for both to trigger the cut scene. You’ll learn about Johnny’s past including his time in America. He’ll then show you a picture of his family. If you press R1 when prompted, you’ll see a Codec tuning – 144.75 – on the back of the photo, which is needed to unlock the cell door.
Alternatively, you can expedite the process by triggering the Guy Savage nightmare mini-game. When you return to the cell afterwards, you’ll find two rations of food on the floor for you to throw back. Johnny will deposit a third shortly afterward.
