Rich in the staples of Japanese folklore, the maze boasts a dark, brooding atmosphere that’ll stick with you long after you leave. As you vie to track down and, hopefully, defeat the crazed general for his prized armor at the Abandoned Tominaga Estate, one of the four tasks to unlock the main gate involves navigating a puzzle through a thick bamboo forest.
This is a classic shifting video game forest where you’re seemingly plopped back to the beginning, whichever path you choose. There is, as you’d expect, a trick to it. Here’s how to beat the Ghost of Yotei Spider Lily General maze puzzle.
Ghost of Yotei Spider Lily General maze solution
To solve the Ghost of Yotei Spider Lily General maze, you’ll simply need to take the paths marked with red spider lily flowers. From the Misty Valley Bamboo Strike starting point, look for the path with flowers on the ground at its entrance. Follow it and pass through the yellow light at the end. When you return to the Bamboo Strike, look for the next path adorned with lilies, and so on.
To complete the Ghost of Yotei Spider Lily General maze puzzle, you’ll need to repeat this process of following the red flower paths three times. After the third, interact with the Bamboo Strike to receive the key for the main gate lock back at the Tominaga Estate. While you’re here, you can also complete the Bamboo Strike to upgrade your Spirit meter. To exit the maze, back track through the path you entered through, which is now usefully speckled with spider lilies.
Obtaining the remaining three keys for the Ghost of Yotei Spider Lily General quest is comparatively easier. Follow the path to the right of the pagoda and defeat the bandits to get the gravestone key. Explore the cave down the path to the right of the maze to find the key engraved with a cave. Lastly, you can pick up the pagoda key by interacting with the door on the western side of the pagoda near the gate.
