If you’ve progressed the Kitsune main story Revenge quest far enough, you’ll have a valuable clue about what’s required thanks to the Nine Tail cipher. If not, we’ll walk you through how to solve the Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Shrine puzzle.
Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Shrine puzzle solution
To solve the Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Shrine puzzle, you’ll need to light the right lanterns. We’ll start from the set of fox lanterns to the right of the cave mouth and work our way clockwise. You can grab a torch from the braziers of the cave entrance.
- Behind the lanterns is a small pond with a statue of a fox looking upwards with its paw outstretched. Light the lantern on the right that’s topped by a fox in the same position.
- Next, head to the lanterns up on the cliff. The fox at the center of the pond is crouching, so light the middle lantern with a fox in the same position.
- Lastly, head to the last set of lanterns to the left of the cave. The fox in the pond is sitting, holding a tool in its mouth. Light the lantern on the left with the same fox statue above it.
Lighting all three lanterns will open the door and solve the Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Shrine puzzle. Make your way over to the cave and crawl under the now-open door. Make your way down and parkour deeper into the cave. You’ll come to a chamber with a chest perched on a ledge. Hit the switch to the right of the ledge, next to the ‘Engage’ cypher symbol on the wall, to release a ladder to access the chest.
Press on into the cave and you’ll reach the Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Hideout. It’s your standard hideout patrolled by numerous enemies. You’ll need to clear it and free the captives as part of Master Enomoto’s The Path of the Kusarigama sensei quest.
How to reach the Snow Drift Springs Hideout Altar of Reflection
Lastly, head up towards the shrine building at the back of the hideout. There, you’ll find another set of fox lanterns. Light the one on the far left and the one on the middle-right—the foxes on these matches those on the rock in the pond.
Use the newly released rope to climb up and find the Ghost of Yotei Snow Drift Springs Hideout Altar of Reflection. Make sure to bow to grab the technique point. There’s also a puzzle box, a Saito Missive, and two chests to loot before going through the revolving door at the back to exit the hideout.
