Does Ghost of Yotei have multiplayer or co-op? Traipsing across Feudal Japan, slicing through mouthy grunts, and drinking in the stunning scenery in the foothills of Mount Yotei alongside a pal sounds pretty special. 

But, is that even within the realm of possibility? Will there be co-op multiplayer like the post-launch Legends mode that made its way into the original Ghost of Tsushima? Here are all the details about multiplayer and co-op play in Ghost of Yotei.

Is Ghost of Yotei Multiplayer?

Yes and no. Ghost of Yotei’s main story is designed as a purely single player experience but penciled in for 2026 is a co-operative multiplayer mode called Ghost of Yotei Legends. It will be released as a free DLC available to all owners of Ghost of Yotei.

Over to Sony for a quick description: “Ghost of Yōtei Legends will offer two-player story missions and four-player survival matches. This time around, you’ll play as one of four character classes and try to defeat demonic, giant versions of members of the Yotei Six, plus a variety of new enemies that fight alongside them.”

Much like the original Legends, it takes place in a fantastical, supernatural setting that exists separately to the grounded environs of Mount Yotei where the main story unfolds. So you won’t be able to take on main quest missions or fight major story bosses alongside a friend, but you’ll still get to experience the action-adventure’s combat in all its gory glory and smaller, bespoke stories together.
