Tapping into Hideo Kojima’s extensive list of contacts, the Death Stranding 2 voice actors and cast list is unsurprisingly stacked with big name actors from both video games and the big screen. With a slew of returning characters in the sequel, there are some familiar names but a load of new ones bringing their voice and likeness to post-apocalyptic Mexico and Australia.
From Norman Reedus through to Elle Fanning by way of Troy Baker, it’s one of the most impressive star-studded casts in video game history and after reviewing the game, we can confirm it’s marvellous stuff from all involved. Sam Porter Bridges – Norman Reedus
Norman Reedus reprises the role of the gruff every-man protagonist Sam Porter Bridges as he vies to reconnect Mexico and Australia. Reedus is infamous for playing Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead and the recent The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon spin-off. Alongside, Reedus is also known for roles in Blade II, American Gangstar, and The Boondock Saints, and cameos in many music videos from the likes of Radiohead and REM.
Fragile – Léa Seydoux
The French actress Léa Seydoux returns as Fragile, the head of Drawbridge, the organisation tasked with reconnecting Mexico and Australia to the Chiral Network. Seydoux filmography is impressive with notable standouts including a stint as Madeline Swann in the James Bond movies Spectre and No Time to Die. She’s also starred in Dune: Part Two, several Wes Anderson movies, and Tarantino’s Inglourious Bastards alongside countless French-language projects.
Tomorrow – Elle Fanning
Elle Fannin lends her voice to Tomorrow, a new character in the Death Stranding universe. Though Fanning needs no introduction, she’s starred in films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Maleficent, the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, and Super 8 to cite a few.
Rainy – Shioli Kutsuna
Another new character in Death Stranding 2, Rainy is voiced by Australian-born Japanese actress Shioli Kutsuna. You may have spotted her as Yukio in the two latest Deadpool movies alongside performances in Shinichi Kudo’s Written Challenge!, Apple TV+’s Invasion, and scores of Japanese-language films and TV shows.
Neil Vana – Luca Marinelli
Luca Marinelli takes on the role of Neil Vana in Death Stranding 2. Aside from an uncanny resemblance to Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series, the Italian actor is known for roles in The Solitude of Prime Numbers, The Old Guard, Don’t Be Bad, Mussolini: Son of the Century, and The Eight Mountains. He’s also the real-world husband of actress Alissa Jung who plays Lucy in Death Stranding 2.
Higgs – Troy Baker
As close to a bonafide star that video game voice acting has, Troy Baker returns for the sequel to play the flamboyant and conniving villain, Higgs Monaghan. Baker’s catalog of appearances needs no introduction if you’ve played any AAA games in the past decade or so. They include Sam Drake in the Uncharted Series, Magni in God of War, Joel in the Last of Us, Pagan Min in the Far Cry series, and Revolver Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain among countless others.
Tarman – George Miller (model) / Marty Rhone (voice)
Tarman is modelled by George Miller, an Australian director best known for creating and directing the Mad Max franchise. He’s also worked on films such as Babe, Happy Feet, and Three Thousand Years of Longing. Tarman is voiced by Marty Rhone, known as a singer-songwriter but also for his work in Street Fighter 6
Dollman – Fatih Akin (model) / Jonathan Roumie (voice)
Fatih Akin lends his likeness to Dollman, Sam’s trusty puppet side-kick. Akin is Turkish-German director known for films such as Head-On, The Edge of Heaven, and In the Fade. Jonathan Roumie brings Dollman’s voice to life. An American actor, he’s most recognised for roles in Jesus Revolution, Saving Lincoln, and Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again.
Heartman – Nicolas Winding Refn (model) / Darren Jacobs (voice)
Heartman, the Beach-travelling 21-minutes syndrome sufferer, is modeled by Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn known for Too Old to Die Young, Drive, Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives, and The Neon Demon. Darren Jacobs lends his voice to Heartman with plenty of experience garnered with work on games such as No Rest for the Wicked, Starfield, Genshin Impact, Modern Warfare III, and voice acting in TV shows Rebel Moon and Castlevania: Nocturne.
Deadman – Guillermo Del Toro (model) / Jessi Corti (voice)
Deadman likeness is based on the famed Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro responsible for films such as Blade 2, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Pinnochio, and Pacific Rim. Jessi Corti is responsible for bringing Deadman’s voice to life. The American actor is known for voicing LeFou in Beauty and the Beast along with appearances in Zootopia, Frozen, The West Wing, 24, Just Cause 4, Red Dead Redemption 2, and the Uncharted series.
Charlie / Die-Hardman – Tommie Earl Jenkins
Tommie Earl Jenkins stars in Death Stranding 2 as both Charlie and Die-Hardman. The American actor, musician, and stage performer’s prolific career includes Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Paradise Highway, Go Jetters, Lupin, Star Trek Prodigy, Cats, Fallout 76, Gotham Knights, Star Wars Jedi Survivor, and Avowed.
Mama / Lockne – Margaret Qualley
Though in a reduced capacity, Margaret Qualley makes a return in Death Stranding 2 as Mama and Lockne. Qualley is one of Hollywood’s brightest stars and her filmography includes The Substance, Maid, Poor Things, The Leftovers, The Nice Guys, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and Poor Things.
Lucy – Alissa Jung
Lucy is played by Alissa Jung, the real-life wife to Luca Marinelli who plays Neil Vana in Death Stranding 2. The German actress is mainly known for domestic films and TV shows such as Mary of Nazareth, Open my Eyes, and Das Menschenmögliche.
Amelie – Lindsay Wagner
Lindsay Wagner returns as Amelie in Death Stranding 2. The American actress is a veteran of the silver and small screens with decades of experience that include roles in The Six Million Dollar Man, The Bionic Woman, and Ricochet.
The Doctor – Debra Wilson
Debra Wilson takes on the role The Doctor at The Motherhood facility where she uses her DOOMS to perform miraculous surgery to help expectant mothers. This isn’t Wilson’s first go at video games with roles in Star War Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor, Diablo IV, Halo Infinite, and Destiny 2. Her on-screen work includes The Summerland Project, Bodied, Scary Movie 4, Star Wars The Rise of Skywalker, and Love, Death & Robots.
The President – Alastair Duncan
APAC leader known as The President is played by Alastair Duncan. The Scottish actor’s video game work includes Middle-earth Shadow of Mordor, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Mimir in God of War, Skyrim, Modern Warfare, and Tomb Raider.
