How to fix not enough customers in Cities Skylines 2?

Plan your city well and don’t overzone commercial areas to fix not having enough customers in Cities Skylines 2. It’s easy to mess up commercial zones so here’s how to fix them:

  • Have a solid education system – Building schools and colleges will enable high-skill workers to work in commercial zones. This, in turn, improves the odds of families in cities, further increasing your customer base.
  • Build different sizes of commercial buildings – Note that 2×2 and 3×3 sized commercial zones can spawn entirely different kinds of shops and services. While smaller ones are fine for towns, you’ll need more variety as your city grows. Having too many of the same type will make it harder for them to get customers.
  • Demolish commercial buildings if there are too many of them – It’s okay to bulldoze a building or two if it means more customers for the other commercial buildings.
  • Don’t create entire streets of commercial buildings – Placing a couple of them between streets will suffice.
  • Lower commercial taxes – Cities Skylines 2 lets you adjust the commercial taxes of different kinds of goods. If one kind is suffering from a lack of customers, try tweaking the tax rate.
  • Ensure good public transport to reach shops – Good public transport and effective parking spaces will lure more customers to shopping areas. This means bus stops, taxi stands, and tram connections if possible.
