How to fix high rent in Cities Skylines 2?
Fixing high rent has multiple solutions in Cities Skylines 2. These range from changing the kind of residential zone to accounting for the city’s needs and demands. This condition usually affects some households and businesses. The former tends to include single adults with children, senior citizens, and kids living alone. High rent keeps people away from buildings, making them prone to collapse as their owners ignore such buildings. Improper maintenance makes your finances take a hit when a building collapses.
Here’s how to fix high rent in Cities Skylines 2:
- Bulldoze the building and replace it with another one – This one’s a bit of a hack. But if you don’t fix the underlying problem, it’s bound to crop up again.
- Lower funding or disable city services near this building – If you absolutely want to keep this building, you can make a certain area less desirable by disabling key city services nearby.
- Reduce taxes on residential and industrial zones – This makes rents lower but it will cause a dent in your finances. Industries can also benefit from this move to remove the High Rent condition.
- Rely on a mixture of all residential housing types – Mix low-density, medium-density, and high-density homes to ensure a variety of options. Note that their rents will again vary on the kinds of services nearby. You can see the land value by clicking the Land Value icon. White areas are lower in value while dark blue is costly. - Improve your education facilities – This in turn enables better jobs that allow people to pay rent without an issue. It’s a good solution that enables a better quality of living across your city.
