How to remove a zone in Cities Skylines 2

While using the zone placement tool, use right-click to remove zones in Cities Skylines 2. This returns zones to their previous no-zone state. While the original Cities Skylines had a separate tool for this, the sequel rolls this into the placement tool. This makes for a more streamlined experience.

Removing a zone can be done for a variety of reasons. Maybe you want to add a commercial store in the middle of your residential zone. Or maybe there’s a Cities Skylines 2 high rent situation that you want to defuse. Either way, as your city grows, expect your zones to change shape and expand. Note that you can replace existing zones directly too.

How to replace an existing zone in Cities Skylines 2

Select the new zone that you want and then apply it over an existing zone to replace it in Cities Skylines 2. This is particularly handy when you unlock offices as they can be placed near existing zones. This can also be used to replace other kinds of zones like residential or commercial spaces. If there’s a building already in this zone, it will be demolished to make way for buildings of the newer type. But if it’s just a patch of land, enough demand will ensure new buildings sprouting up rather quickly.

That covers how to dezone and rezone in Cities Skylines 2. Check our Cities Skylines 2 beginners guide for more steps to a better city. You can try these methods on a PC right away. As for Cities Skylines 2 on Xbox and PS5, expect it to launch in 2024.
