For the Broken Monument quest in Arc Raiders, Tian Wen boots you off to the Scrap Yard in Dam Battlegrounds to hunt down three items from the First Wave: a compass, a videotape, and old field rations. Unlike a lot of Arc Raiders quests, such as Greasing Her Palms, you are told where to go, but once you’re there, it’s down to you to uncover the items, and they are well-hidden.
To pepper the quest with a bit more challenge, you have to find all three items in a single round. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find the items and complete the Arc Raiders Broken Monument quest.
- The Scrap Yard is located in the southeast of Dam Battlegrounds.
- The compass is hidden between a vehicle and two shipping containers in the south of the yard.
- The videotape is next to the two metal cylinders in the middle of the yard.
- The old field rations are found inside the Raider camp trailer in the north of the yard.
- Remember to have all three items in your inventory, extract, and then report back to Tian Wen in Speranza to complete the quest.
Reach the hallowed grounds by the Scrap Yard
Load into Dam Battlegrounds, and you’ll find the Scrap Yard in the southeast of the map. It’s located to the north of the Formicai Outpost, southwest of the Testing Annex; it’s more or less directly south of Research & Administration.
To trigger the objective, enter the Scrap Yard from any direction. You’ll know you’re in the right spot when you see cars and vehicle carcasses, tyres strewn on the grounds, and a whole lot of rust.

The compass is located in the southeast of the Scrap Yard area, sandwhiched between a grey vehicle and a set of containers on the island of trash in the middle of the two paths that cut through the yard From the ball-shaped tank next to red abandoned car, go north, jump onto the two Erma Cora containers right ahead of you, and then drop down to find a crate marked with a yellow circle. Interact with the crate, then loot the compass.

The Broken Monument videotape is found in a box just above the letter ‘p’ in Scrapyard on the map. Look for two massive silver cylinders lying next to two grey vehicles. The box is right next to the southernmost cylinder on a small elevated mound. Like with the compass, interact with the box, then remember to loot the videotape.

Lastly, the old field rations are inside a Raider camp, specifically in the abandoned, polished aluminum trailer resembling an Airstream, in the north of the Scrap Yard area. Head inside and you’ll find the box containing the old field rations between two metal shelves leaning against the western wall.
Deliver the First Wave items to Tian Wen
To complete the Arc Raiders Broken Monument quest, you have to extract successfully with the compass, videotape, and old field rations, so double-check they are in your inventory beforehand.
Though you can leave the map anywhere, the Water Treatment Elevator and Red Lakes Balcony Lift (prime Snitch hunting territory) are the closest and easiest to reach. If you have a Raider Hatch Key, you can also make a quieter exit at the Good Old Baron’s Hatch extraction point near the South Swamp Outpost.
Once you’re back in Speranza, speak to Tian Wen to wrap up the Arc Raider Broken Monument quest and claim your rewards: an Arpeggio I, a Compensator II, and x80 Medium Ammo.
