Google has announced the Nexus 7, a seven-inch Android tablet powered by Nvidia’s quad-core Tegra 3 processor.
Quite remarkably the new tablet will cost just £159 (plus £10 postage from Google direct) for the entry level 8GB model. A 16GB version will cost £199 plus postage.
The specs on both models are the same, including the Tegra 3, 1GB RAM and a seven-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280×800.
There are a few shortcomings, however – notably the lack of an SD card slot and no 3G support.
Google is taking pre-orders now – with an estimated delivery time of two-to-three weeks. Those who do jump in early get a bonus £15 Google Play credit and a copy of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
