Oh look, it’s FIFA 17 again. I wish I could tell you something more interesting than “I’ve been playing FIFA,” but that’s really all I’ve been doing in my spare gaming time. Here’s the thing: FIFA is still FIFA.

At work I spent a large chunk of time with a PS4 Pro and our new 4K TV, which was nice. Sadly my own PS4 Pro doesn’t impress quite as much at home on my 1080p plasma. Poor me, only being able to use the latest tech five days a week between the hours of 8:30am and 5:30pm.

Alice Bell, Content Editor – Dishonored 2, PS4

I was pretty excited for this one, I’m not going to lie. I’ve spent the past two days shut in a room playing this in pursuit of reviewing it, so I’m not sure how much I should gush about it here because then you won’t need to check out the review. But it is a very good video game. I am comfortable saying that. It’s everything you liked about the first one, but more. More creative ways to murder people, more creative ways to not murder people, a second assassin to step into, and more beautifully designed levels wrapped up in and around themselves like so many Fabergé Eggs, but spattered with blood. So many grubby, sad little secrets to find.

It is not, I would imagine, the sort of game for people who don’t like stealth games, but it’s good enough that I would say to give it a shot even if you’re one of those sorts of people.

It also has an amazing cast: Sam Rockwell, Rosario Dawson, Vincent D’Onofrio, and someone from Game of Thrones, and everything. You love all that s***.

Sam Riley, Junior Content Editor – Rise of the Tomb Raider

Goodness gracious! This week certainly was a wild one, wasn’t it? To think that I, Samuel Riley, would be alive to witness the darkest day in human history. But enough about Leonard Cohen, may he rest in soft rock… Oh, you perhaps thought I was talking about that other thing? Well I wasn’t, and in truth, I think we could all use a break from said story. For my part, I dove — or should I say swan-dived — right on into Rise of the Tomb Raider, and let me tell you, interactive escapism doesn’t get much better than this.

2013’s Tomb Raider reboot hit me like a bolt out of the blue, and was so well made in fact, that I actually consider it a better game than any one entry in the Uncharted ‘trilogy’. It may have lacked for the hijinks and easy-going charm of Nate Drake, but in every other respect developer Crystal Dynamics simply knocked it out of the park. Here yet again Lara achieves the unlikely, outdoing the altogether excellent Uncharted 4, thanks in no small part to its varied gameplay mechanics and deeper levelling systems. Of course, you really should give both a go, if you can, and If not — be assured that this is a top quality tomb em’ up.
