Tom Orry, Editor – Rocket League, PS4

I’m still plodding along with Rocket League, a game I’m now almost convinced is impossible to get properly good at – or should that be, impossible for me to get properly good at. I don’t see any signs of improvement in my play, with a complete inability to judge air hits being my main weakness. The sad thing is that I’ve seen numerous videos online that show the kind of skill some players have. Unfortunately for me, I seem destined to languish in the lower levels, occupied by players like Jim.

Steve Burns, Deputy Editor – Rainbow Six Siege, PC

Did you play the Rainbow Six Siege Alpha? You didn’t? Then you’re an idiot. It was good then, and it’s even better now. A word of warning: unless you happen to be a teenager with the reactions of a mongoose, then you’re likely to get killed, a lot. Rainbow Six prizes tactics, but also twitch skills: if you’re over 25 you better be either well prepared or very quick on the trigger.

Still, for those of us who have advanced somewhat in age there’s always Terrohunt: four players take on the AI, storming consulates and defusing bombs. The twist is that when you get to said bombs, the tables turn and the game becomes akin to Left 4 Dead: hordes of enemies swarm on your position, and you have to hold them off until the timer runs down. It’s very, very good.

Dave Scammell, News Editor – Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, PS4

So I’m playing through Tomb Raider again which – remarkably – is still up there with some of the best looking games on PS4. But I don’t want to talk about that. I’d like to know what you think about Rise of the Tomb Raider’s exclusivity period.

Clearly intended as Microsoft’s trump card against Uncharted 4, Rise of the Tomb Raider now offers the platform holder the opportunity to clean up this Christmas. But does confirmation of its one-year exclusivity (and even less on PC) affect your feelings towards it?

Had you been planning to pick up an Xbox One this Christmas to play RotTR? And in the wake of this week’s news, do you still intend to do so, or are you happy to wait the extra year to play it on an alternative platform? I’m intrigued to know what you think (and get a better understanding of whether timed exclusives can still make a difference in this day and age), so let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Brett Phipps, Guides Editor – VG Live event

Davebrettlive

Rather than talk about any game I’ve been playing this week (which has largely involved making as many rude words as possible in Alphabear), I want to say a massive thank you to everyone who came to VideoGamer’s first-ever VGLive event this week.

It was so amazing to see all of your lovely faces and watch us talk complete and utter nonsense once again. Your support really means a lot, and it was so nice to get a chance to meet and chat with you all. You’re all amazing, and we wouldn’t be doing this without you. Roll on VGLive Round 2.

Also, huge props to the powerhouse that is Simon Miller for organising the shindig. Was a hell of a lot of work and stress, but he pulled it off and everyone had a blast.
