Tom Orry, Editor – Football Manager 2016, PS4

At home I’ve been exclusively playing Fallout 4, but during lunch in the office I’ve been making steady progress through my second season in charge of Nottingham Forest. Things were going remarkably well, and after seven games I sat at the top of the Championship. Then I hit a bad run of form, going winless in five matches and only taking two points. This included a ridiculous 6-1 defeat at home to QPR. I wasn’t happy, but most of this I put down to losing my two CMs and AM to longterm injuries. Given I had to scrape together a team on free transfers and kids, my injury list proved to be rather troublesome, with 1-star or less players being thrown in out of position. Serves you right, Board of Directors! Of course, it’ll be me that suffers if I don’t make the playoffs.

Steve Burns, Deputy Editor – Fallout 4, Xbox One

Yeah, I played some of this. You know what? It still mostly sucks. There’s too much combat, and too much of that combat is rubbish. It runs like s***, which should be no real surprise. And the dialogue options aren’t very good. Worst of all, for an RPG where you can supposedly ‘play your way’, you can’t kill main characters. What a load of rubbish.

I will say one thing for it though, and that is the world is very, very good: massive, yet filled with intrigue and the joy of discovery. Here’s the thing: I’ll play Fallout 4, on PC, when The Modders fix the combat, and by that I mean add in one-hit kills. Once that’s done, it’ll be very good indeed. Shame they can’t fix that f***ing Pip-Boy though.

Dave Scammell, News Editor – Rainbow Six Siege, PS4

Remember a couple of weeks ago when I said that I was hoping to play more of Star Wars Battlefront? Well, I still haven’t. And now I can’t even blame Call of Duty.

I stayed up playing Rainbow Six Siege all night last weekend. Literally until it was time to eat breakfast. I felt like a teenager again. It was great. Siege is, quite simply, the most addictive online shooter I’ve played in ages, and it deserves to be played by far more people than it seems to be getting at the moment.

Oh, and a very special thank you to VG friend Tom Bickmore for being my squadmate last Saturday. I had a great time. Sorry for shooting you in the ass.

Alice Bell, Junior Staff Writer – Destiny, PS4

I’ve been playing this in all my spare time this week, and not just because when I was offered this job Tom jokingly told me that I could have it as long as I “got good at Destiny”. I’m pretty sure he was joking, anyway…

I’m actually really enjoying it, though. The combat is hard enough that it rewards a bit of skill, so I’m fooled into thinking I’m actually a competent player every now and then, although the attempt to weave a deep, mystical story around it is a bit bollocks. No amount of Bill Nighy voice acting will fool me into thinking that an online shooter is a truly worthy endeavor. Plus I’m still not entirely sure what’s going on with the plot anyway, so I’m just going with attacking anything that attacks me.

Destiny is, of course, in the midst of the official (if short lived) Sparrow Racing League event, but I’m abjectly terrible on my Sparrow still. I’m mostly settled with the shooting, whilst idly wondering how my avatar manages to cram her huge asymmetrical mohawk into her helmet every day.
