Seb invented Blue Steel. True story. Here he is posing before heading to Heathrow to catch the flight out.

E3_2009_002.jpg

Waiting for the flight to board Neon and Seb break out a couple of Nintendo DSs to pass the time. As if drinking grotty airport beer wasn’t enough entertainment!

E3_2009_003.jpg

Seb making some kind of hand gesture. I imagine to youthful people this symbol probably represents some kind of dark sordid sexual manoeuvre. Notice Wes in the Fatal Fury cap back there in the background.

E3_2009_004.jpg

Neon attempts to play Hotel Dusk with the eye mask on. The case went unsolved.

E3_2009_005.jpg

Wes holding up the in-flight entertainment controller. His was broken so instead of access to a wide selection of great movies he was stuck playing solitaire.

E3_2009_006.jpg

The air hostess doesn’t seem overly impressed with whatever Adam and Seb are showing her. Use your imagination.

E3_2009_007.jpg

Unfortunately this didn’t turn out to be our hire car.

E3_2009_008.jpg

Our first stop in the US? A McDonalds Drive-Thru of course. They do nuggets in denominations of 8 and 20 instead of 6 and 9. They’re light years ahead of the UK in this regard.

E3_2009_009.jpg

Seb and Chris’ hotel room. Being the largest of them all this would eventually become the VG war-room and the venue for Neon’s complete breakdown.

E3_2009_010.jpg

Seb working like a dog. “Chillaxing” is part of his job description. Probably.

E3_2009_011.jpg

Wes and Neon enjoying the ambience of the main hall lobby.

E3_2009_012.jpg

Chris’ hoodie is made out of TV static. At least so the legend goes.

E3_2009_013.jpg

Assassin’s Creed 2 definitely wins the banner wars.

E3_2009_014.jpg

The reason we got up at all on Monday, to procure our show floor passes. That is a pint of a beer called Sam Adams. Not bad.

E3_2009_015.jpg

When he isn’t working for VideoGamer.com Seb also works for VideoGmaer.com… apparently. This typo really upset him. Really.

E3_2009_016.jpg

All hands on deck, the editorial team man the battle stations as the press conferences kick off.

E3_2009_017.jpg

Now for some random snaps from the show floor. Warner actually erected a miniature WB water tower which we thought was cool. You’re still laughing at “erected” aren’t you.

E3_2009_018.jpg

A bunch of guys take to the stage with LEGO Rockband. Nobody seems to care. This whole area of the show floor forced passers by to endure a steady stream of terrible terrible singers.

E3_2009_019.jpg

Microsoft’s booth. Halo ODST commanded one of the longest queues of the show.

E3_2009_020.jpg

Square Enix had a stunning HD screen playing the latest trailers from the Final Fantasy series amongst others. Up close the experience was breathtaking.

E3_2009_021.jpg

Seb, clearly enjoying himself. If you look closely you can tell something has snapped in his mindbox. He looks a little unhinged.

E3_2009_021a.jpg

Steve Wiebe attempted to beat the Donkey Kong world record right here at E3.

E3_2009_022.jpg

Koei’s booth. Home to a strange Pokémon style monster, some attractive ladies and the latest Dynasty Warriors game.

E3_2009_023.jpg

Nintendo’s area offered the chance to go hands on with the new multiplayer Mario title. Unfortunately Galaxy 2 wasn’t available.

E3_2009_024.jpg

Activision reps giving a demonstration of the new Tony Hawk game. If you like pretending to ride pretend skateboards then this is the game for you.

E3_2009_025.jpg

Checking out Need For Speed Shift at the EA booth where they gave a demonstration and held some kind of time trial competition for attendees.

E3_2009_026.jpg

Watching the DJ vs Guitar face off during the DJ Hero presentation was one of the highlights of the show.

E3_2009_026a.jpg

Seb finds his long lost identical twin. Who is also huge. And a wrestler. And isn’t Seb’s twin at all. John Morrison ladies and gentlemen!

E3_2009_027.jpg

Neon, Chris, Wes and Adam taking in some of the LA night life.

E3_2009_028.jpg

Wes, Neon and Adam hitting the beach before catching the flight back to London.

E3_2009_029.jpg

Fancy pants photo of some trees. Not overly game related but nice nonetheless.

E3_2009_030.jpg

The beach really was gorgeous.

Our weary heroes walk off into the distance, bruised, battered and beaten from an epic trip. See you next year!
