Welcome to Heads-up, our weekly feature which gives you an at-a-glance run-down of the games you’ll be able to buy or rent this weekend. Every Monday we’ll pick out the best of the bunch, link to our reviews and previews and keep you in the video game loop so you have enough time to pre-order for Friday’s post. Time to smash open your piggy bank so you can spend its coin-shaped guts.

Recommended: Far Cry 3 – Xbox 360, PS3, and PC

Ubisoft’s left it late in the year to release its latest open-world FPS, but it seems good things come to those who wait. We were thoroughly impressed by how varied and emergent the gameplay was in Far Cry 3, and definitely recommend you pick it up.

And the rest…

This is a bit of a mixed bunch. We reckon a few of you will pick up Zone of the Enders HD Collection, but we’re slightly disappointing by the frame rate delivered by the HD remasters.

  • Ben 10 Omniverse – Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and 3DS
  • Kylie Sing & Dance – Wii
  • Rise of the Guardians – Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS, and 3DS
  • Transformers Prime – Wii, DS, and 3DS

Wii U Launch Titles

It’s Wii U week, which means you’ve got tons of launch titles to pick from. We’re yet to properly dive into ZombiU, but New Super Mario Bros. U is definitely worth picking up with your new console. Other worthwhile launch games include Nintendo Land and plenty of ports if you’ve not got another HD console to play them on.
