The console war is fought everywhere these days, but the internet seems to be where people are most vocal. It also serves to give each console its own set of downloadable content, fuelling the war even more. Each week we’ll give you a run-down of what’s available to download on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Wii is no longer included in our round-up.

Our verdict is based on the content available this week only.

Note: This round-up is based on UK releases to each console’s online service and does not include premium video content. Releases outside of the UK could vary.

And the winner of this week’s DLC Royal Rumble is…

PlayStation 3

It’s a solid week for both platforms with worthwhile releases for everyone, but PS3 comes out on top thanks to the wonderful – and cheap – MotorStorm RC and Starhawk Beta. MotorStorm RC is a slightly jazzier version of the PS Vita launch game, complete with improved visuals and multiplayer. Those who picked up the game on Vita can also play the PS version for free, and vice versa.

Xbox 360’s major attraction is Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, but we didn’t get on so well with its action-heavy gameplay.
