Criterion Need for Speed named?

The emergence of new domain registrations has suggested a number of possible titles for the new Need for Speed game in development at Burnout-developer Criterion.

As spotted by Superannuation, a number of new Need for Speed-related domains have been registered, including Need for Speed Boost, Need for Speed Street Kings and Need for Speed Showdown.

While it’s entirely possible that none of these registrations are in fact the title of the new Need for Speed game, it seems likely that the game’s title will be revealed soon.

Last week E3 confirmed plans to unveil “a new Need for Speed title, Dead Space 2, and the return of one of the most storied franchises in first-person shooter history, Medal of Honor” at E3 next month.

The popular Need for Speed franchise was recently split into three parts: Need for Speed: World, a free to play PC MMO racing game due out later this year, the Criterion-developed Need for Speed, and a new, unannounced Need for Speed title due out in the fourth quarter of 2010.
