Battlefield 4 will be revealed on March 26, EA has revealed.
According to invitations sent to select media (including Polygon), EA is set to hold an event in San Francisco next Tuesday to “celebrate a new era of Battlefield”. The invitation specifically names Battlefield 4.
It isn’t yet known whether footage of the event will be streamed online.
Alongside the announcement, the first alleged piece of art for the game has surfaced online, showing a US soldier running in heavy rain alongside tanks and armoured transport.
The artwork offers the first hints at the game’s setting and the factions involved. According to Battlefield fan site Battlefieldo, the city shown to the right of the shoulder’s left soldier is Shanghai, suggesting China could play a part in the game’s campaign, while the fighter jet in the artwork has also been identified as the ‘Chengdu J-20’, a Chinese fighter jet expected to be introduced between 2017-2019.
Could Battlefield 4 be lit in a neon-lit, rain-swept Shanghai?
Battlefield 4 is due to release by April 2014. Platforms have yet to be announced.
