An R-Rated cut of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, titled the Ultimate Edition, will launch on Blu-ray and DVD according to a bulletin released yesterday by the Classification and Ratings Administration.
The new Ultimate Edition cut of the imminent comic-book film from Zack Snyder will feature extended sequences of violence not found in the PG-13 theatrical release.
Whether or not the new cut includes further tweaks involving non-action sequences isn’t known. This does all mean that the recently confirmed running time of 151 minutes will be extended for home video.
R-Rated comic-book movies may become much more commonplace following the $500 million-and-counting success of Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens worldwide on March 25.
