ATI release Catalyst 5.6

ATI has announced that Catalyst 5.6 is now available to download. New to this release are on-the-fly video adjustments which allow users to change their video quality and see results instantly via the software’s real-time video preview. There is increased performance with WMV9 acceleration and supposed increases in the performance of leading games such as Halo, Chronicles of Riddick and Doom 3.

With the launch of Catalyst 5.6 we take software innovation to the next level, broadening our footprint to support notebook PCs and defining a new standard for video control and usability,” said Ben Bar-Haim, Vice President, Software, ATI Technologies. “The new features in Catalyst 5.6 combined with an ongoing monthly commitment to deliver high-performance WHQL-certified drivers present a unique software proposition that is unmatched in the graphics industry.”

ATI have also released Catalyst Mobility, which promises to allow notebook users to update drivers at the same pace as desktop users.
