There is a possibility that Nintendo will reveal its next video games console at E3 this year, Stern Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia has told Gamasutra.

“We would not be surprised if Nintendo unveiled the specifications of its next console at E3 in June this year,” said Bhatia.

A platform reveal this year would be “followed by product introduction early next year,” he said.

Bhatia believes that Nintendo’s rivals won’t be so quick to launch new products, estimating that new consoles from Sony and Microsoft are at least two to three years off.

The Wii continues to sell well – outpacing the PS3 – but sales are declining. This, coupled with a distinct lack of first-party support for the platform could indicate Nintendo’s priorities now lie elsewhere.
