Reports this morning from British press were suggesting that Sony would be impounding all grey imports of their PSP console. Owners of import PSPs should not be worried though, as Sony has told GamesIndustry.biz that they will not be taking away your PSP.

We’re absolutely not going after consumers – that’s not our objective at all. We can assure people who bought consoles on the grey market that we’re not going to be going after them,” said SCEE head of corporate communications Nick Sharples.

Concerns were raised by a clause in Sony’s legal action against importers. The clause demands that the names and addresses of all customers who have bought a PSP from the retailers be handed over to Sony. This was cleared up by Sharples who said that this is just standard procedure allowing the supply chain to be established.

All us import PSP owners can now come out of hiding, safe in the knowledge that your precious isn’t going to be taken away from you.
