The BBC reports that PS3 iPlayer usage in December 2010 increased by 31 per cent compared to November 2010.
Users of Sony’s console requested seven million TV and radio programs over the course of the month, compared to only four million made by Wii users – itself up from around three million the month prior.
In total iPlayer saw 145 million requests for TV and radio broadcasts, a year-on-year increase of 27 per cent. The most requested shows were Top Gear USA Road Trip (1.29 million), Top Gear Middle East Special (1.26 million) and The Apprentice Series 6 Episode 12 (892,000).
Despite its smaller installed-base in the UK, the PS3 saw almost double the iPlayer request than Wii in December – a figure which probably says more about the type of owner than the quality of iPlayer service each console offers.
The Xbox 360 remains the only current console platform which doesn’t offer iPlayer.
