Gaming news site Gamesindustry.biz is reporting that a select few development studios close to Sony have received PlayStation 3 development kits. Japanese developers have had development kits for some months, but until now no one knew if anyone in the UK was working on PlayStation 3 titles. The first fruit of PlayStation 3 development is expected to be shown at E3 in May.
The technical specification of the PlayStation 3 dev kit hasn’t been revealed, but it is said to be pretty close to what will be in the final system. Microsoft are also believed to be shipping new dev kits soon, which will include more advanced hardware than the current PowerMac kits.
