Nintendo has been making quite the go of it lately with regards to its Classic Mini series. First up came the NES mini, followed by the recently released SNES mini, and there are rumours of an N64 version. Now, a Japanese trademark application has popped up for a Nintendo Classic Mini Game Boy. This news was reported by a Japanese Nintendo fan site, Ninten-Switch.com which has shared news of the application.
The trademark was filed on September 15, and this application covers a number of categories, including programs for smartphones, smartphone cases, key holders, watches, and more. In all likelihood this application will be more to protect Nintendo’s IP and brand rather than signify anything, so probably best to temper your expectations now.
Back in July, Nintendo also applied for a trademark for the N64 controller. If I were a betting man I’d say the N64 has more likelihood of joining the NES mini, and SNES mini, than there being a Classic Game Boy Mini. In fact it’d be better to just have any Game Boy game released on the Switch.
