Midway have been holding a press event in Chicago where they have showcased a number of their big games due in the coming months. These included Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks and LA Rush. However, while these games look great, everyone wanted to hear about what Midway had planned for the next-gen consoles.

Gamespot did some digging and revealed that Fear and Respect (action game featuring Snoop Dog) has become a next-gen project, and Unreal Tournament 2007 and John Woo’s Stranglehold are both planned for PS3 and Xbox 360. Stranglehold is said to be a PS3 launch title. Nothing was said of the Revolution, but that is hardly surprising, given that Nintendo themselves haven’t said much yet.

Also revealed was the PSP version of Mortal Kombat. Rather than being an action adventure title like the forthcoming Shaolin Monks, the game will be titled Mortal Kombat: Deception Unchained. It will ship in the first half of 2006 and include some of the characters that were only seen in the GameCube version of Deception, as well as Wi-Fi support for multiplayer action.

Midway also stressed that they wouldn’t be abandoning the current generation, with plans to support the PlayStation 2 for at least 2 years, potentially continuing for up to four years with kids titles.
