Intel has announced that they will start shipping their dual-core processors in Q4 2005. Intel is predicting that 75 per cent of all CPU shipments by late 2006 will be dual-core chips.
Before all you crazed PC gamers raid the piggybank (or more likely re-mortgage your house), it is worth pointing out that games are not expected to take advantage of dual-core architecture until well into 2006, with Intel’s standard Extreme Edition chips being their leading gaming processor for some time to come. If of course you are a crazed PC gamer, you have probably ignored that last sentence.
