An official announcement on the company’s website reads: “We are sorry to inform you that the Zodiac business was discontinued and service and support are no longer available as of July 25th 2005.“
The Zodiac was released late in 2003 in the US with a UK release around a year later. The Zodiac was much more than a handheld games console, offering a range of PDA functionality and home brew apps, but after launching with a retail price of £300 it was then forced into several price drops because of poor sales. The handheld was actually received very well by critics, but faced strong competition in a flooded market, notably from the Game Boy Advance. With the release of the PSP and DS the market has become even more crowded and it seems there wasn’t enough space for the Zodiac to exist.
