Double Fine’s Kickstarter project finally closed last night, having gathered an extremely impressive $3,336,371.
A further $110,000 was raised by premium donations made via Double Fine’s own site, resulting in a grand total of $3,446,371 – over $3m more than the project’s original goal of $400,000.
Tim Schafer and the rest of Double Fine celebrated the close of funding with a live web stream from their offices. At the end of the countdown Ron Gilbert could be seen balancing a shoe on his head.
Double Fine will now begin work on their old school adventure game, with 2 Player Productions documenting the development.
Elsewhere, Brian Fargo and inXile became the first high profile game developers to follow in Double Fine’s wake, launching an appeal to raise $900,000 for Wasteland 2.
