Microsoft’s new Fun Labs showcase for Kinect launches today, and already it seems that the service has one high profile fan: Cliff Bleszinski.
“I frickin’ love the way you guys [Microsoft] are embracing this homebrew, kind of hack community, instead of trying to fight it,” said the Gears of War creator, speaking at a developer roundtable in LA.
“It’s so smart to let them just go with it. I think it’s a really great thing. If I was 17, I’d be hacking, doing my own version of that. By the way, the finger tracking is s*** hot!”
As detailed earlier today at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Fun Labs will show off games and applications that people have built for Kinect.
At today’s session Kudo Tsunoda, the creative director for the platform, said that Fun Labs will open up Kinect to a broad range of content makers.
“The stuff I’m really most excited about is how many new interactive developers Kinect has enabled,” said Tsunoda.
“It’s not just about people in the games industry any more. Anybody out there who goes out and gets a Kinect is now able to express their creativity, and bring their own ideas into the platform itself.”
