According to ATI, their problems with poor yields of their 90nm next-generation graphics chip are soon to be solved, paving way for Autumn shipments of the R520, R530 and RV515. ATI is already planning the release of the R580 in early 2006.
Nvidia has already released its next-gen part, the Geforce 7800 GTX, beating ATI to the market by several months. With the launch of ATI’s 90nm part it is expected that PCI Express will gain market share, eventually overtaking AGP, but unlike Nvidia’s 7800 GTX, ATI do plan to release their latest gen card in AGP form.
