Easynet has announced that they plan to introduce ADSL2+ internet services later this year; Easynet will trial the new service in conjunction with BT’s own trials. By the end of the year speeds could reach beyond 10Mbps in the UK, with 24Mbps being the likely top speed – the current top speed in the UK is 8Mbps. While this isn’t directly related to gaming, the faster speed that ADSL2+ offers will be a real benefit to gamers who enjoy online gaming. While the download speed increases will get the most attention, the new services will also offer a faster upload speed. With many online console games requiring the players themselves to host the game (rather than using a dedicated server) this faster upload speed will greatly improve the online gaming experience.
