Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 isn’t confirmed to appear at The Game Awards, but fans are hopeful because of the game’s director, Naoki Hamaguchi, saying the gameplay is “almost complete” in an interview with French YouTuber Julien Chièze from back in October. There’s also newfound hope among the fanbase thanks to the sudden appearance of two “private” videos in the Final Fantasy playlist on Square Enix’s YouTube channel.

Spotted by X user, GamerTifa7, “There are now two hidden videos on Square Enix’s Final Fantasy playlist on YouTube,” and “It also says updated today,” meaning December 10, just one day before The Game Awards takes place on December 11. GamerTifa7 has shared a screenshot as proof of the private videos, and you can see it for yourself, although on desktop, the playlist just ends with a note saying, “2 unavailable videos are hidden”.

The Game Awards has been synonymous with reveal trailers since its foundation by annual host, Geoff Keighley, back in 2014. The Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy has a history at The Game Awards, too. A trailer for FF7 was shown at Geoff Keighley’s event in 2019, followed by its PC port, Intergrade, in 2021. The Game Awards 2023 also featured a stunning trailer for the trilogy’s second installment, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.

Hope for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 appearing at The Game Awards

One of these private videos could possibly be a reveal of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. In the same interview with Julien Chièze, Naoki Hamaguchi says that he and creative director Tetsuya Nomura are close to finalizing the game’s title, and that it will be cemented before 2025 ends.

Another potential clue for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 appearing at The Game Awards is Square Enix’s calendar for December 2025. Shared by Japanese games news aggregator, Genki_JPN, the calendar specifically marks December 12, which is the date of The Game Awards in Japan, the country of origin for developer Square Enix.

On the flipside, it’s possible that these hidden videos are not related to The Game Awards whatsoever. If they are, there’s also the possibility they could just be trailers acting as a timely reminder that Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade is releasing for Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox on January 22, 2026.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 isn’t expected to release until 2027 at least. Part one of the trilogy was released on PS4 in April 2020, followed by Rebirth on PS5 in February 2024. Hamaguchi already revealed development is going “extremely well” with a “lot of the content already playable” in an interview with games publication, Automaton, in September. The director also says Square Enix is “actively considering” DLC for the finale.

We only have a little longer left to wait to see if Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 appears at The Game Awards. Other leaks for the event include the return of Leon for Resident Evil Requiem, courtesy of a PlayStation Store blunder, meanwhile, Geoff Keighley’s mysterious demon statue appears to be teasing Larian Studios’ Divinity thanks to the emergence of new trademarks that perfectly align.
