As spotted by Polygon, there’s an Arc Raiders fansite called Speranza Bounties. This is a community-driven platform that lets you submit bounties, encouraging the community to target players “who betray others”. You can submit up to three bounties per day by sharing their Embark IDs and whether they play on PS5, Xbox or PC. To be eligible for a bounty, they need to have committed any of the following offences:
- “Sounded chill, led to ambush”
- “Grabbed loot and ran”
- “Shot at extract after teamwork”
- “Hides near extract, attacks on arrival”
- “Pretended AFK, wiped the squad”
- “Snipes players heading to extract”
Bounties last up to 30 days, and targets are removed from the hit list if they are not successfully eliminated. There is a voting system on the fansite, and you are allowed five votes per day. You do need an account to vote and submit bounties, and targets who receive the most votes are naturally higher on the most wanted list. If you manage to kill someone on the list, you need to submit a screenshot as proof so that an admin can confirm the elimination.
There is an incentive to eliminate targets. First of all, upon signing up, you start as a Rookie, but killing 25 targets earns you the title Executioner, and 50 Kills dub you a Legend. The platform is also looking to award “hunters who eliminate the weekly top 10 bounties,” but the exact rewards are not revealed yet.
Arc Raiders players are friendlier on PC than console
Arc Raiders is competitive with its PvP, but it also encourages teamwork and co-operation as it’s Player versus Player versus Environment. Unfortunately, community experiments have discovered that players on console are way less friendly than on PC.
On the Arc Raiders subreddit, OP Monstras-Patrick shared the findings of an experiment conducted with his brother. Playing on PC, the OP found that other players are more likely to talk, wish you luck, or actually team up. Meanwhile, on PS5, the brother discovered that console players are way more likely to shoot on sight, shoot players in the back after lying, or even worse, team up with and betray you at the extract.
Embark’s extraction shooter is crossplay, meaning you can play with anyone across PS5, Xbox, and PC. You can turn off crossplay by heading to Settings in the menu, navigating to Gameplay, and disabling Crossplay in the Online section. While turning off crossplay is a viable option, this bounty-hunting fansite is a fun alternative for punishing players guilty of betraying others.
Arc Raiders has been a huge success since its release on October 30. It is reportedly nearing 7M sales across all platforms, although the majority of its players are on PC, with reportedly 69.2% on Steam, followed by 17.3% on PS5 and 13.5% on Xbox.
In addition to its successful sales, the game is nominated for Best Multiplayer at Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards on December 11. Despite the controversy of telling fans there’s no “generative AI whatsoever” despite using text-to-speech, it has received praise from within the video games industry, with Palworld developer hailing it as the new benchmark for Unreal Engine games development.
