Embark has shared the Arc Raiders update 1.4.0 patch notes. It’s not a massive patch, but it fixes a big exploit that “allowed you to shoot quicker”. This “double pump” exploit was showcased by YouTuber Gravez (spotted by Eurogamer), who regarded it as big enough to “break PvP” because of “try-hard PvP sweats abusing it on Stella Montis”.
The exploit was players taking advantage of the weapon swapping mechanic to quickly cancel the weapon re-chambering animation. In showing how to perform the exploit, Gravez points out that it works best with the IL Toro Shotgun, but it could be used with other weapons that have chambering animations.
Fortunately, it’s not something players need to worry about anymore. Unfortunately, we all know it’s only a matter of time until the next big exploit is found and abused.
Arc Raiders update 1.4.0 patch notes
- Exploit mitigation mechanisms have been added for all locked rooms across all maps.
- Fixed the gun exploit that allowed you to shoot quicker than intended by swapping to a quick use item and back.
- The exterior access to Spaceport’s Control Tower locked room has been blocked off.
- Fixed the issue that sometimes caused low resolution textures in the Main Menu.
- Fixed players being able to push each other by jumping on each other’s backs.
- Fixed lighting artifacts that would sometimes occur upon entering maps.
- Raider Voice now correctly respects the selected voice option after restarting the game.
In addition to this update, some PC players recommend turning off crossplay after running an experiment that shows console players are less cooperative and friendly.
Since its release on October 30, Arc Raiders has been a huge success. It is reportedly nearing 7 million sales across all platforms, and it has dominated Steam for four weeks running. Embark has “ambitious” plans for 2026, and it is nominated for Best Multiplayer at The Game Awards on December 11.
