Rumours suggest that Microsoft is looking to revamp its delivery of video content on the Xbox 360, currently on offer under the Zune brand. This would rival popular streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu.

Speaking to The Daily, sources at Microsoft’s Redmond office suggest “a new way to watch videos on the Xbox 360 is coming, with Microsoft as the direct source of the content.”

The Zune Marketplace currently requires users to purchase individual films and shows, with the only subscription service in UK offered through the Sky Player.

There’s no information on how the new subscription model might work, though. Microsoft currently offers an unlimited music streaming service with a Zune Pass – which could be extended to incorporate video content, too.

The revamped Zune service is reported to be launching at some point this year.
