Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has been talking up the online capabilities of Wii U, suggesting that it will match, if not outperform its rivals.

Speaking to Game Trailers he said that the new console would have “all of that type of capability built in.” Considering Nintendo’s rather limited offerings in the past with the Wii, the Wii U looks set to play a major role in the company’s rejuvenated online strategy.

Speaking of third party involvement regarding the Wii U network, Fils-Aime said the overall service would provide “the best of what each of our third party partners has to offer, marrying that with the best of what Nintendo does, and bringing that versus a more rigid, a more closed type of environment.”

He also promised a flexible approach to their online services.
