Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age finally released on the PS4 in the UK today. Along with the release of one of the best RPGs of the PS2 generation, we get a trailer that shows how well the Japanese RPG has aged — with the obligatory nips and tucks for current gen, to make it look all lovely and delightful.

If you played Final Fantasy XII on its original release (like me) way back in 2006, you’ll have plenty of things to look forward to. The Zodiac Age moniker relates to the Zodiac job system, which was introduced to the Japanese version in Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System. What a lengthy title. This job system reworked the original license board and gave players the choice of 12 classic Final Fantasy job roles for their favourite characters. A sure way to  make me a happy chappy.

Also included in this remaster is a new speed mode. Hold down a button and everything goes up to 4x faster. There’s also an auto-save and shorter loading times. Which is all par for the course being an 11 year old game and all that. Just don’t go expecting 4K on the PS4 Pro version.

Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age is out now on the PS4.
