Microsoft has sold 60 million Windows 8 licenses to date, Windows chief marketing officer and chief financial officer Tami Reller announced at the 11th Annual J.P. Morgan Tech Forum at CES 2013 yesterday.

The figure encompasses all Windows 8 sales, including upgrades and sales to OEMs for new devices. Microsoft says this figure represents a similar sales trajectory to that achieved with Windows 7.

Microsoft also reports that it has seen significant growth in the Windows Store, with the number of apps having quadrupled since its launch. 100 million app downloads have also been achieved in only two months.
