The assumed dead Wing Commander franchise appears to be getting a new lease of life with Wing Commander Arena for Xbox 360.
A recent listing on the ESRB website has revealed that EA has a new Xbox 360 game on the way called Wing Commander Arena. Information is sparse but the listing does reveal that the game will contain some fantasy violence.
It's not known in what form the game will appear: full retail or Xbox Live Arcade? All-new game or remake? The best bet for a franchise which has been dormant for so long would probably be the Live Arcade, although we won't know for sure until EA makes some form of official announcement.
The Wing Commander franchise was pretty popular in the '90s; numerous video games spawned an animated TV series and a motion picture, but it has since remained silent, probably locked away in an EA basement.
