Speaking to Kotaku at the Spike TV VGAs, legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk revealed that it has always been part of the plan to release additional titles that utilise the board peripheral.

"I feel like the device is a flagship for other games," said Hawk. "I think we can do another skate game, I think we can do other board-type games, surfing, snowboarding."

He added: "That really was the master plan... I didn't think it was some gimmick that people were going to have to buy again next year."

Hawk's comments are in line with those of Robomodo CEO David Michicich, who recently hinted to Develop that it is working on a new game that utilises the board.

Tony Hawk: Ride is out now for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

I haven't played a Hawk game since I played Skate for the first time. Nothing compares to the fluidness of the flick it control in Skate. Even though past TH games have always been more arcade oriented games and lots of fun, Skate just feels right.

EA are laughing alright... All the way to the bank.

I don't believe what Tony Hawk has said.

I think he and Activison was shocked on how bad Ride was. They are only saying that the peripheral is going to be used for surfing & snowboarding games in the future for Activison. EA will laugh at this and go at full momentum with Skate knowing full well people will be more interested.

Skateboarding games should stick to the pad until they actually have the right peripheral for skateboarding games.

The peripheral may be a better tool for surfing or snowboarding games. I feel that skateboarding games will always fail. I'm only disappointed that Activision have made the Tony Hawk franchise an expensive gimmick.

I believe Tony Hawk, but it still comes with a pretty steep price tag.
