Hawk defends RIDE

Believes gamers and reviewers are coming into the game believing it's 'going to suck'.

Activision and Robomodo's Tony Hawk: RIDE, with its wireless board peripheral, was meant to be the evolution of the skateboarding genre, but reviewers have disagreed - look out for our verdict later this week.

Despite the bad press, Hawk stands by the latest video game to sport his name and has accused the its critics of not giving the title a chance.

"They were ready to discredit it before they even tried it, and if it didn't play exactly how they imagined it... then they passed it off," Hawk told The Sudbury Star.

"I don't agree with people who say the board's not responsive," he added. "I think that they're just not giving it a fair shake. And I think a lot of them came into it with an attitude that it's going to suck."

He concluded: "I know that (RIDE) is super fun, and I think there's a misconception that I just stick my name on a game. I brought this idea to Activision, and I saw it through, I've been playing it every step of the way and I am very proud of it."

Tony Hawk: RIDE is out now for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii.
