Mass Effect 3 isn't going to be the last time BioWare explores the Mass Effect universe, but the studio is looking for the "right way" to branch out before any new projects are started.

Speaking to Forbes, BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka said that "[BioWare] do have a desire to continue the Mass Effect franchise, and we're working on the details, figuring out what the fans want, figuring out the right way," but emphasised that the studio is committed to finishing Mass Effect 3 before branching out to spin-off projects.

Fellow BioWare co-founder Greg Zeschuk said that the Mass Effect universe has struck a chord with its audience.

"Certainly the setting has really resonated with people," he said, "the type of aliens in the world, the type of people that inhabit space. Obviously we focus first and foremost on nailing it on this game, and then, you know, the possibilities in the future are very, very broad."

At E3 2011, VideoGamer.com declared in its Mass Effect 3 preview that it could be the best action game of 2012.

Mass Effect 3 is due to be released on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC on March 9 2012.

May I suggest "Garrus and Martin," which will finally unite the former C-Sec security officer with one of the UK's grumpiest games journalists. The game will feature the dynamic duo investigating the Nintendo office to see what exactly is going on with the Wii U.

Jumping onto the MMO bandwagon mayhaps?

Though with SW:TOR likely up and running by then, that may count against it.
