The Xbox 360 version of Hitman Absolution is to be made backwards compatible with Xbox One, IO Interactive has confirmed.

Speaking to WorthPlaying, studio head Hannes Seifert and Square Enix's senior director of public relations Reilly Brennan revealed that the game would be coming to Xbox One backwards compatibility but couldn't confirm when it would arrive. Release timing, apparently, is down to Microsoft.

Absolution may not be the only Hitman game heading to the service, either, with Seifert telling the site that he would eventually like to see all of the studio's Xbox 360 titles made backwards compatible with Xbox One.

Three Hitman titles were released on Xbox 360, including Hitman Absolution, Hitman Blood Money and the Hitman HD Trilogy. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, another Xbox 360 title from IO, was made backwards compatible late last year.

Four new games were made backwards compatible with Xbox One yesterday, including Trials HD, Alan Wake's American Nightmare, LEGO Batman and Sam & Max: Beyond Time & Space. Red Dead Redemption, Burnout Paradise, BioShock, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops and more are all expected to be added to the service in the future.

The first episode of the latest Hitman game, meanwhile, arrives on PS4, Xbox One and PC on March 11.

Oh, all Xbox 360 Hitman games, not all Hitman games.

I've kinda always wanted to play Hitman : Codename 47 just out of curiosity, even though loads of people who have played it say it's sh*t, especially in comparison to H2 - H4.

Still, kinda curious tbh.
