Fees relating to issuing Title Updates on Xbox 360 Arcade games have been scrapped, Microsoft has confirmed.

"Microsoft eliminated fees for Title Updates on Xbox 360 Arcade games in April 2013," a spokesperson told Edge.

"We're constantly evaluating our policies and implementing feedback. While our development policies are confidential, and will remain so, we're pleased to say that this is just one of many ongoing changes and improvements we've made to ensure Xbox is the best place possible for developers and gamers."

Fez developer Phil Fish famously refused to patch a major bug discovered in the game following its release owing to Microsoft's excessive re-certification fee.

There could be light at the end of the tunnel for Fez XBLA gamers, though, with Fish stating on Twitter that he "will get in touch with them and see if their new policy is retro-active".

However, the tirade of anti-MS Tweets which followed suggests Fish has no desire to ever work with Microsoft again.

What were the original fees for updates on XBLA, £10k per update or something?
