The third Batman: Arkham game will be built using Unreal Engine 3, according to the online CV of a developer working on the title.

Daniel Wang, who works as a game designer at Chinese outsourcing company Virtuos, notes the yet to be revealed title on his LinkedIn profile, and appears to state that the game is being built “using unreal 3”.

“Will update on work on more official annoucements [sic]”, he adds.

The continued use of Unreal Engine 3 suggests that the next Arkham game may be a current or cross-generation title, rather than a next-gen exclusive. It’s expected that next-gen-exclusive titles being built using Epic’s Unreal Engine will use Unreal Engine 4.

Wong’s LinkedIn profile also makes note of an “unannounced sandbox action game”, but it appears to be a separate project to Arkham 3.

Virtuos has previously contributed to development on Warner Bros. last Batman title, Batman: Arkham City. According to its website, the company has also worked with 2K Sports on NBA 2K13 and Microsoft on Kinect Disneyland.

Warner revealed last month that the “next release in the Batman Arkham franchise” was due to launch later this year.

However, rumours suggest that the game may be in development at Warner Bros. Montreal, rather than the previous games’ creator Rocksteady Studios.

A spokesperson for Warner Bros. was not immediately available for comment.
